Laurie Metcalf is an American actress, known for her roles in the shows Roseanne, The Big Bang Theory, and The McCarthys, and in the film Scream 2.
Laurie’s paternal grandparents were James Lloyd Metcalf (the son of James William Metcalf and Annie Bewick Buchan) and Pearle M. Stadel (the daughter of John F. Stadel and Heffie/Effie Demming). Pearle was of German descent.
Laurie’s maternal grandparents were John T. Mars (the son of William Theron Mars and Laura Belle Carter) and Mary Elizabeth Akins (the daughter of James Duff Akins and Alverta Kate Graves). James’s sister was poet, writer, and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Zoë Akins (who is therefore Laurie’s great-great-aunt).
