Mac’s great-grandfather Vernor was a Canadian politician in Alberta, Canada, who served as the province’s Minister of Railways and Telephones from 1921 until 1932, and was the son of John Alexander Smith and Amelia Gay, and had Scottish, Irish, and English ancestry. Lily was born in England, the daughter of Edward Bury.
