Dick Cavett is an American television personality and talk show host. He was the host of The Dick Cavett Show from 1968 to 1986.
Dick is the son of Erabel “Era” (Richards) and Alva Bayard Cavett. Dick is married to author Martha Rogers. He was previously married to actress Carrie Nye, until her death.
Dick has stated:
My grandfather came from… one of them came from England, the other one came from Wales… I’m Scottish, Irish, English, and possibly partly French, and a dose of German.

Dick’s paternal grandmother Gertrude Pinsch (the daughter of Friedrich Pinsch and Maria). Gertrude was German.
Dick’s maternal grandfather was Richard Richards (the son of James Richards and Martha Evans). Richard was born in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, Wales.
Dick’s maternal grandmother was Etta May/Mae/Martha Mitchell (the daughter of William Mitchell and Eliza Ellen Mitchell). William was the son of John Silas Mitchell and Mary “Polly” Atkins. Eliza was the daughter of William Mitchell and Mary Anne Atkison.
