Duncan Sheik is an American singer and songwriter.
He is the son of Suzanne “Zonnie” (Tracy) and John Matthews “Jack” Sheik.
Duncan’s younger half-sister is Broadway actress Kacie Sheik.
The surname Sheik is derived from van Schaik, which is of Dutch origin.
Duncan’s paternal grandparents were likely named Harry M. Sheik and Agnes Ruth.
Duncan’s maternal grandfather was William Edward “Bill” Tracy (the son of Joseph Murray Tracy and Katharine May McDermott). Joseph was the son of Irish emigrants, Bernard “Barney” Tracy and Margaret Flynn, who were both of part Scottish descent. Margaret’s mother’s maiden surname “Fleury” is of French origin.
