Sherrod Brown is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he has served as a U.S. Senator from Ohio, since January 3, 2007. He was previously Secretary of State of Ohio, from January 12, 1983 to January 14, 1991, and a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, from January 3, 1993 to January 3, 2007.
Sherrod is the son of Mary Emily (Campbell) and Charles Gailey Brown. He is married to former newspaper columnist Connie Schultz. He has two children with Connie, and two with his former wife, Larke Recchie.
Sherrod’s paternal grandfather was Charles Gailey Brown (the son of Robert Carson/D. Brown and Mary Elizabeth Gailey). Charles was born in Ohio. Robert was the son of Robert Brown, who was born in Teressen County, Ireland, and of Sarah Ledlie. Mary Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania, to Irish parents.
