Jason Newsted is an American musician. He is the former bassist for the metal bands Flotsam and Jetsam, Metallica, Echobrain, and Voivod. He also led the band Newsted.
Jason is the son of Joann Marlene “Jo” (Arnold) and Robert Gene Newsted. He is married to Nicole Leigh Smith.
