Paul Joseph James Martin was a Canadian politician. A member of the Liberal Party of Canada, he was a Member of Parliament from 1935 to 1968, and a Senator from 1968 to 1974. He was the son of Philippe Martin and Lumina Chouinard. He was married to Eleanor Alice “Nelly” Adams, with whom he was the father of Paul Martin, who served as the 21st Prime Minister of Canada.
Paul’s father was of half Irish and half French-Canadian descent. Paul’s mother was of French-Canadian and 1/32 Scottish ancestry.
