Clive Barker is an English playwright, novelist, film director, and visual artist. He is known for his Books of Blood short stories, including The Forbidden, which inspired the Candyman films; and for his novella The Hellbound Heart, which was adopted into the Hellraiser films.

Clive is the son of Joan Ruby, a painter and school welfare officer, and Leonard Barker, a personnel director.
