Kelly Ayotte is an American politician. A Republican, she has served as a U.S. Senator from New Hampshire, since 2011. She was previously the Attorney General of New Hampshire, from 2004 to 2009.
Kelly’s paternal grandparents were Roland Ayotte (the son of Alfred Homer/Omer Ayotte and Alma Arbour) and Irene G. Elie (the daughter of Frederic Elie and Odile Bisson). Alfred, Alma, and Frederic were all born in New Hampshire, and all of their own parents were French-Canadian. Odile was also French-Canadian, born in Quebec.
Kelly’s maternal grandparents were John Thomas Sullivan (the son of Humphrey Thomas Sullivan and Gertrude Ethel Smith) and Mary Katherine Flynn (the daughter of Michael Flynn and Mary Lynch). Humphrey was born in Cork, Ireland. Gertrude was born in Massachusetts, of Irish descent, the daughter of Edward Smith and Johannah Coughlan. Kelly’s great-grandparents Michael and Mary were born in Roscommon, Ireland.
