Moana Maniapoto is a New Zealand singer, songwriter and current affairs presenter best known for Moana and the Moahunters (1991–1998), and Moana & the Tribe (2002–). She is the daughter of Nepia Tauri Maniapoto and Bernadette Maniapoto (nee Honywood). Moana has a son with New Zealand politician and radio personality Willie Jackson and a daughter with Toby Mills. She is affiliated with Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Arawa (Ngāti Pikiao) and Tūhourangi. She is a niece of former New Zealand rugby union player Manukapua (Manu) Maniapoto.
Moana’s paternal grandfather was Hema Maniapoto. Hema was the son of Tawhirau Maniapoto (of Ngāti Tūwharetoa) and Te Wakahuia Paerata (daughter of Te Tini Te Paerata, son of Hitiri Paerata chief of Ngāti Raukawa).
