George Roy Hill was an American filmmaker. He won the Academy Award for Best Director for The Sting (1973). His other notable films include Hawaii, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Slaughterhouse-Five, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Slap Shot, A Little Romance, The World According to Garp, and Funny Farm.
George was the son of Helen and George Roy Hill, who was from a prominent Irish Catholic family, which owned the Minneapolis Tribune.
George had four children with his former wife, Louisa Horton.
