Joseph Cook was an Australian politician. He served as Prime Minister of Australia, from 24 June, 1913 to 17 September, 1914. He was also Leader of the Opposition, from 17 November, 1908 to 26 May, 1909, 20 January, 1913 to 24 June, 1913, and 8 October, 1914 to 17 February, 1917, Leader of the Anti-Socialist Party, from 17 November, 1908 to 26 May, 1909, and Leader of the Commonwealth Liberal Party, from 20 January, 1913 to 17 February, 1917, among other duties.
Prime Minister Cook was the son of Margaret (Fletcher) and William Cooke, a coalminer.
Prime Minister Cook’s paternal grandfather was Robert Cooke. Robert was born in Ireland. It is not clear if Prime Minister Cook’s paternal grandmother was Irish as well.
Prime Minister Cook’s maternal grandfather was William Fletcher.
