Shirley Jones is an American actress and singer. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Elmer Gantry (1960).
Shirley is the daughter of Marjorie Louise (Williams), a homemaker, and Paul Livinson Jones, the owners of the Jones Brewing Company. Her mother had English, German, Irish, and remote French and Welsh, ancestry. Her father was of Welsh, Scottish, and English descent.
Shirley was married to actor and comedian Marty Ingels, until his death. Shirley has three children, including singer, actor, and producer Shaun Cassidy and actor Patrick Cassidy, with her former husband, actor and singer Jack Cassidy.
Shirley’s paternal grandparents were William Benjamin Jones and Lulu J. “Lulu” Dorman or McWilliams. William’s father was Welsh. Lulu was born in Illinois or Pennsylvania, to a Scottish father and an English mother.
Shirley’s maternal grandfather was Charles Harold Williams (the son of John Martin Williams and Margery Victoria Rush). Margery was the son of John K. Rush and Sylva Younkin.
Shirley’s maternal grandmother was Sarah J. Smiley (the daughter of Lott/Lot Smiley and Susan/Susanna). Lott was the son of James Smiley, who was Irish, and Sarah.
