Gloria Grahame was an American actress and singer. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Bad and the Beautiful (1952).

Gloria was the daughter of Jean Grahame (Jeanne McDougall), an actress and acting teacher, and Reginald Michael Bloxam Hallward, an architect and author. Her mother was born in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her father was born in London, England.

Gloria had a son with her former husband, director Nicholas Ray; a daughter with her former husband, writer and television producer Cy Howard; and two children with her former husband, actor Anthony “Tony” Ray. Anthony was the son of Nicholas Ray (and of a different wife of Ray’s).

Gloria’s paternal grandfather was Reginald Francis Hallward (the son of Charles Berners Hallward and Elizabeth Ann Morgan). Charles was the son of John Hallward and Emily Jane Leslie, who was of Irish descent. Elizabeth was the daughter of Peter Morgan.

Gloria’s paternal grandmother was Adelaide Caroline Bloxam (the daughter of Robert William Bloxam and Henrietta Lock).

On one census record, Gloria’s mother is listed as having a Scottish father and an English mother.
