Vint Cerf is an American internet pioneer. He is recognized as one of “the fathers of the Internet”. Vint is the son of Muriel D. (Gray) and Vinton Thurston Cerf, an aerospace executive. Muriel was a Canadian immigrant from Montreal, Quebec.
Vint’s paternal grandparents were Maximillian Cerf, Jr. (the son of Maximillian Cerf and Caroline Reinbrecht) and Aline Helen Cerf (the daughter of Henry Cerf and Anna Joseph). Maximillian, Sr., Caroline, and Anna were German immigrants. Henry’s parents were French immigrants.
Vint’s maternal grandparents were Charles Nelson Gray (the son of James Charles Gray and Elizabeth Ellen Scroggie) and Bertha Plamondan (the daughter of Osias Plamondon and Elisa Catudal). James was of Irish descent. All of Elizabeth’s grandparents were Irish immigrants. Bertha was of French-Canadian descent.
